The Inclusion Through Board Games has been my first project with Erasmus+. Having the opportunity to be involved as a participant and as a volunteer for the Love and Care for People organisation has given me valuable and unforgettable experiences from two perspectives: One related to the management and administration of Youth Workers' projects and a second one concerning the role of a participant implicated in a multicultural environment. Thanks to my supportive role I have learned more in-depth about the areas related to the management and coordination of projects (accommodation, food, finance, training, youthpass, etc.) and, thanks to my participant role, I have experienced firsthand different non-formal education group tasks, providing me with an understanding of the benefits of multicultural inclusion. But how can we define inclusion? and why is it essential to promote it in our interconnected world?. Inclusion is about creating a group where everyone, regardless of their background, feels safe, welcome, and free to share their ideas. There are different ways to promote it and, in particular, a project focused on board games has been proven to be an excellent tool to facilitate social interaction and mutual cooperation between players from different cultures. With a simple board game, it is possible to break easily the ice and facilitate communication between participants, while mainly having fun. Being part of this project has further increased my interest in youth work and particularly has shown me that just with a few tools like board games integration and inclusion are easily facilitated. Let us promote the wider use of board games as, in addition to their use to develop social interaction, they let improve critical thinking, problem-solving, and memory if they are used frequently.
